Additional Information
"It's been five years since we last played in Los Angeles. And it's a pleasure to be back. This is the last night of our American tour, so we're gonna need you to make it a special one. We're gonna play some old songs and some news songs. We're gonna start right here. Thanks for coming. This is called Real Life. Let me see your hands."

Jim's opening announcement is over the opening, majestic chords of Real Life. The live version is much like the album version, except Charlie is higher in the mix, and there's a substained note (for about a minute) before the 'Space Shuttle' coda. "This is a song we first played 10 years ago at the Whiskey. From an album called Sons And Fascination, this is Love Song." The backing tape of the original Love Song has been restored, and the song is very short and too the point. (Like many of the Real Life tour versions.)

With a single announcement of Travelling Man, the band rush through this new song, which follows the LP version closely, but it's already gained it's extended ending with new lyrics. East At Easter has lost all it's Street Fighting Years additions, now sounding closer to the LP version, but it includes a great solo from Charlie at the end.

The other side starts with Jim ordering the crowd to "sing it!" as the opening chords of Don't You (Forget About Me) start. The recording suffers from wow here, plus sounds slightly too slow. But this is one of the most intimate versions of Don't You (Forget About Me) yet with Jim just whipsering towards the end. This is immediately followed by Woman which is longer than the LP version with a great extended ending.

"Everything OK? We had a day off yesterday, and driving around, listening to the radio. And this next song came on, and even if I say so myself, time stood still. The radio never sounded as good as it did to me then. That's only my opinion and it's because of this man, Charlie Burchill. This is Stand By Love. Let me see your hands"

Stand By Love appears in it's album guise whilst Someone Somewhere In Summertime returns to its original form, complete with Charlie's guitar solo at the start. The levels sound incorrect with Mark Taylor and Charlie occasionally battling.

The CD continues with a very synthesizer orientated King Is White And In The Crowd. This will be familiar to everyone with the Stand By Love 7" or 12" where this version was official released. The song includes an extra "I get so breathless for you" coda before the "Wire them up" finalé. Percussion announces the start of a run through the album version of See The Lights.

Let There Be Love was also featured on the Stand By Love release and should be familiar. However, Jim's announcement as the band came on for their first encore was edited out: "You knew it wasn't the end - we were just having tea and biscuits back there. I don't like this encore slogan where you walk off and come back on - I just like playing songs. What did everyone go off for? Well I hope we don't have to wait another five years before we come back and play. Thanks for having us. This is called Let There Be Love."

After the final chords of Let There Be Love die away, Mark Taylor immediately starts the intro of Rivers Of Ice which Jim announces as a Scottish folk song. After the first verses, Mark substains the final note, and the whole song slides neatly into Alive And Kicking. This is followed by the final song of the evening, Sanctify Yourself which includes Hammond organ effects from Mark Taylor and some fun guitar playing from Charlie.

This is the only Simple Minds bootleg to be issued on two different formats by the same bootleggers; it appears as both an LP and CD.

Although taken from the transcription disc, or FM radio show, the LP tends to distort at high volumes, and suffers from wow throughout the second side. It's adequete but not the best recording of this show.

The CD offers the entire Westwood One show, and the quality is better, but it still occasionally suffers from distortion. Unfortunately you can also hear clicks from a scratch on the transcription disc during the intro of Let There Be Love.
