- Additional Information
- "Travelling Man" shouts Jim and the bootleg starts mid-concert. The echo of Jim's annoucement
indicates a hollow, but clear, recording. Slight break-up is evident during Charlie's guitar solo (Charlie
is too high in the mix, and you can hardly hear Mark Taylor's keyboards). The song, although following the
LP version closely, has already gained it's extended ending with new lyrics.
- The quiet intro of East At Easter is drowned by cheers and yells. A short version but includes
a great solo from Charlie at the end. "Everything OK" shouts Jim over the keyboard intro of
Banging On The Door. "On keyboards, this is Mark Taylor!" Again, Mark is too low in
the mix, obstructed by Charlie and Mel. Book Of Brilliant Things, which follows immediately, is
performed in its Street Fighting Years form. Classic.
- After a break in the recording, the recording jumps straight into Alive And Kicking
(which was the penultimate song of the gig) which finishes off the first side This coarse edit
unfortunately strips off the first verse of Rivers Of Ice which precceded it in the concert.
- The second side jumps
back into the mid section of the concert again, with a "Let me see your hands" from Jim over Charlie's
intro to Stand By Love, which is performed in its album guise. (The rest of Jim's introduction
including his story about hearing the song on the radio has been left out.) "Going back to an album
called New Gold Dream, and this is dedicated to you all." Someone Somewhere In Summertime and
Big Sleep have both returned to their New Gold Dream versions, but the quiet intro
of Big Sleep suffers from crowd noise.
- Another break in the recording, and the Waterfront '89 Mix backing tape heralds a trimmed down
version of Waterfront, with some great bass playing from Malcolm Foster. A final
edit, and the final song from the set, Sanctify Yourself, includes Hammond organ effects from
Mark Taylor and some fun guitar playing from Charlie.
- An audience recording, but one of the best I've heard. However, there are additional problems. It's hollow
and suffers from echo. Additionally the band mix isn't good with the keyboards being lost.
- It's recorded out-of-order with some terrible edits. Alive And Kicking was originally the
penultimate song and its River Of Ice introduction has been lost. The majority of songs came from
the middle of the concert, but they've been re-ordered as well.
- There are better recordings of this concert but those were taking from the Westwood One broadcast
and don't feature Banging On The Door, Book Of Brilliant Things, Big Sleep
or Waterfront.
