Additional Information
This is a compilation CD, taking tracks from two concerts that have already appeared on their own bootlegs. However, there are some surprises.

The first part of the CD covers the first Mandela show, but the song order is changed, with some tracks omitted. See the original Mandela Day bootleg for a description of the gig.

Some crackle from the transcription disc can be heard during the intro of East At Easter. But, it doesn't cruelly chop the end of Alive And Kicking off as the Mandela Day bootleg does.

After the Westwood tracks, the quality of the bootleg drops: high tones are lost, and the recording sounds flat. However, it remains clear, listenable and enjoyable. These two songs were taken from the Barrowlands gigs of 1985, which have already appeared on the Summertime In Glasgow series of bootlegs.

It looks like the bootleggers missed the original Westwood One presentation of the first Mandela show, electing instead to bootleg a second broadcast from June 16th, 1989. For this presentation, Westwood One changed the the song order and omitted Waterfront, Mandela Day and Sun City which explains the odd song order, and gives the provenance of the first part of the bootleg.

(See the Westwood One SuperStar Concert Series page for details of the original transcription disc.)

And again, the bootleggers confuse the source. It is a US broadcast, but of a London show.

However, the real surprise is left to the final two Barrowlands tracks. This show has been bootlegged many times, but the quality has always been lacking. The two tracks on this CD sound far clearer, and it sounds like a completely different source. Indeed, this recording could be taken from the master tape or the soundboard. (Speed Your Love To Me does suffer from distortion, but that's all part of the fun.)

Difficult to recommend, since it covers two shows incompletely. But the quality of the Barrowlands tracks do make it worthwhile.
